E-mobility as a customer service: Tesla Supercharger fast-charging stations for the car park at Munich’s Riem Arcaden shopping centre
Munich, 09.10.2024 | More attractiveness and service for customers and at the same time a significant step towards sustainable and environmentally friendly mobility: The car park operated by APCOA in Munich’s Riem Arcaden shopping centre opened eight Tesla Supercharger charging stations of the latest generation today, providing a large fast-charging hub for e-vehicles in Munich city centre.
Access to an ubiquitous, convenient and reliable fast-charging network is essential for the large-scale adoption of electric vehicles. As the leading car park operator in Europe, APCOA has entered into a partnership with Tesla, the world’s leading manufacturer of electric vehicles, to make it easier for customers of Munich’s Riem Arcaden who do not have charging facilities at home or at work to keep and use an electric car, to offer them another valuable service when visiting the centre and thus also to support climate protection in the city of Munich.
Tesla today opened a fast-charging station with eight Tesla Supercharger charging points in the APCOA multi-storey car park near Messe München. The Supercharger charging stations in the Riem Arcaden car park are part of Tesla’s latest and most advanced charging technology. The powerful charging station enables vehicles to be charged quickly and conveniently with a peak output of up to 250 kW. On average, it only takes 25-30 minutes to charge from 10% to 80%. The Superchargers are not only available to Tesla drivers, but also to electric car owners of all other brands. Tesla operates the largest fast-charging network in Europe with more than 15,000 charging points at over 1,300 locations. Tesla’s Supercharger expansion supports the existing infrastructure plans to reduce the barriers to broad acceptance of sustainable mobility and thus further accelerate the transition to sustainable energy.
‘Urban locations such as Riem Arcaden are essential for e-vehicle drivers who do not have regular access to an electrified car park. This gives them the opportunity to charge their vehicle quickly and conveniently. As many of our car parks are in central locations, we want to support the mobility transition by installing up to 100,000 charging points in our car parks in Europe by 2035,’ says Frank van der Sant, Chief Commercial Officer of APCOA.
‘With the new fast-charging points from TESLA, we can offer our customers an additional service. Even after short stays in our Riem Arcaden, they can return to their fully charged e-vehicle. At the same time, we can make an important contribution to the city of Munich’s climate protection goals,’ says Ulrich Stichtmann, Neighbourhood Manager of Riem Arcaden.
Electric car drivers will be able to conveniently manage the charging process via the official Tesla app and have access to real-time information, such as the availability of charging points and the charging status. Visitors to Riem Arcaden will no longer have to search for an electric parking space on the street, but can conveniently check in advance whether an e-charging parking space is available in the APCOA multi-storey car park in Riem Arcaden. They will be able to charge their vehicle quickly and conveniently and can make good use of the charging time to stroll around the centre, do their shopping or enjoy one of the many dining options in the Riem Arcaden.
Riem Arcaden is the largest shopping centre in Munich.
