E-mobility as a customer service: The largest fast-charging hub in Berlin’s city centre is beingset up in the ALEXA multi-storey car park

Berlin, 11.04.2024 | More attractiveness and service for customers and at the same time a significant step towards sustainable and environmentally friendly mobility in the capital: The car park operated by APCOA in Berlin’s ALEXA shopping centre today presented twelve Tesla Supercharger charging stations of the latest generation and will soon offer the largest fast-charging hub for electric vehicles in Berlin’s city centre. The underground car park is also the first of its kind with a Tesla fast-charging hub in Germany.

Access to a widely available, convenient, and reliable fast-charging network is essential for the large-scale introduction of electric vehicles. To make it easier for ALEXA customers without charging facilities at home or at work to keep and use an electric car, to offer them another valuable service when visiting the centre and thus also to support climate protection in the city of Berlin, APCOA, as the leading car park operator in Europe, has entered a cooperation with Tesla, the world’s leading manufacturer of electric vehicles.

Tesla today unveiled a fast-charging station with twelve Tesla Supercharger charging points in the APCOA multi-storey car park directly at Berlin Alexanderplatz. The Supercharger charging stations in the ALEXA are part of Tesla’s latest and most advanced charging technology. The powerful charging station enables vehicles to be charged quickly and conveniently with a peak output of up to 250 kW. Charging from 10 % to 80 % only takes 25-30 minutes on average. The Superchargers will soon be available not only to Tesla drivers, but also to electric car owners of all other brands.

Electric car drivers will then be able to conveniently manage the charging process via the official Tesla app and have access to real-time information, such as the availability of charging points and the charging status. In the future, ALEXA visitors will no longer have to search for an electric parking space on the street but can conveniently check in advance whether an e-charging parking space is available in the APCOA car park at ALEXA. Once it has been activated, they will be able to charge their vehicle quickly and conveniently and can make good use of the charging time to stroll around the centre, do some shopping or eat at the ALEXA Food Court.

ALEXA on Berlin’s Alexanderplatz is one of the most successful and, with up to 15 million visitors a
year, one of the most frequented shopping centres in Germany. www.alexacentre.com and
